The SMT technology applied to low profile connectors is usually quite problematic when it gets to industrialize series production. A 2-row connector version from Nicomatic was already available.
However, there is a big gap between a 2 and 3-row connector if you want to apply the 90° SMT technology. What makes it so difficult? Well, you need to guarantee planeity for all contacts to be soldered on 3 axis and remain in especially narrow tolerances!
Nicomatic CMM micro-connectors series 320R allow up to 120 low frequency contacts (up to 5A) in a high density insulator saving up to 60% of space vs. traditional connectors and weight vs. metal solutions. The length between the rear side of the insulator and the 3rd row of contacts is 13mm which makes a compact connector with the smallest PCB footprint found on the marketplace today!
As all Nicomatic CMM series micro-connectors the new CMM320R is classified MIL-DTL-55302F & BS-9525-F0033, it also offers the security of interconnection thanks to an integral jacking mechanism by screw and a PPS material for high temperatures up to 260°C.
