Nicomatic Climate Action Roadmap

A Will to Respond to the Climate Emergency

Innovation and vanguard constitute Nicomatic DNA.

Conscious that it is essential to rapidly initiate change in how we produce our components, given the gravity of the current climatic problem, we naturally decided to participate in the Companies' Convention for the Climate (Convention des Entreprises pour le Climat).

We asked ourselves about the concrete actions we could take to meet the sustainable development requirements. Thus, in the frame of changing our business model to integrate the regenerative aspect from now to 2030, we set ourselves several goals, anxious to contribute to reinventing the industry

One Roadmap, Four Redirection Lever

Our main concern was this: how to develop connection systems based on regenerative materials cooperating with close organizations, and diversify ourselves by providing services based on knowledge sharing?

Our strategy to operate those transformations relies on a roadmap made of four levers that we will expose now.

1. Eco-Concerned Connection Solutions

For this first lever, we would like to promote eco-conception to our clients for all our R&D projects. To do so, a special team is being put together to meet this need. Moreover, we are working on launching a durability index for our existing products and those in development, thanks to a lifecycle analysis.

2. Reducing Negative Externalities

Concerning the second lever, our ambition is the following: using 40% of recycled materials in our connection systems and establishing the traceability of the life of our materials for 70% of our products. We also want to reduce our clean water consumption proportionally to our local territory needs. Finally, our goal is to use 50% of renewable energy in our total consumption.

To achieve our aims, we planned several initiatives, such as calculating and measuring our carbon, water, and biodiversity footprints; launching indicators of our transition management, with the help of an extra-financial dashboard; and analyzing the double materiality in our priorities impact. We can also mention the integration of criteria, such as the toxicity, the regenerative capacity, the place of supply, and the flow minimization in the materials purchase. Finally, we intend to requalify our waste in order that it would be reintegrated in the production cycle or used for new products operating in less harsh environments.

3. Increasing Our Services Offering and Initiating New Local Cooperations

The third redirection strategy relates to our strategic goal of generating 20% of our turnover from areas other than connection systems sales.

Practically, this would mean developing our Academy, especially allowing people not working at Nicomatic to benefit from it and diversifying our historical offer, creating diverse types of services such as knowledge sharing. Our project is also to engage in new activities oriented towards the dismantling of equipment, the reclaiming of materials and local recycling, and creating a third place, allowing the promotion of local circular economy.

4. Giving a New Direction to our Empowering Model

The last measure of our roadmap consists of attributing an autonomous, co-responsible, and decentralized governance model to 80% of the collectives. We tend to explore new models for those ones with the goal of working for the common interest. This will also go through taking into account the socio-ecological balance in our managerial model, which looks necessary in an uncertain and moving environment.

Eco-Concerned Solutions

Launching the Ecosystems Mobilization

We imagined different means to mobilize ecosystems. Indeed, we implemented sensibilization actions, such as the Climate Fresk that the nicomaticians do during sessions distributed on the entire year and landscaping participating works for biodiversity. Furthermore, we created a section dedicated to the sustainable company on the Nicomatic intranet.

Then, we accompany universities that conduct several types of research programs that can rely on the open innovation model and that concern, for example, the materials theme.

Let's mention the fact that we participate in substitution materials research in a consortium of companies operating in our sector. Moreover, some of our collaborators have joined associations that work in favor of ecological transition, like Alpes Supply Chain, Green, or FIPS.

Finally, we participate in the decarbonization and energetic transition of industries with Alliance pactePME.

A Last Word to Conclude

Totally conscious that it is urgent to take action to preserve the climate and limit the harmful effects of its perturbation, it is with great enthusiasm that we participated in the Companies' Convention for the Climate and established a roadmap clearly formulating the changes we are ready to make from now to 2030, in order to meet the requirements linked to the current climatic situation.
