Metal domes & components

SWITCH’AIR™ 4 LEGGED DOMES

What does "Dimple" stand for?

There are 2 types of Dimple : Dimple & Micro-Dimple. The Micro-Dimple exists for 6mm domes. Thanks to its small size it allows, in case of dust on the circuit, to eliminate the dust and make the contact.
The Dimple on the 8.4mm,10mm & 12.2mm is recommended for flexible circuits in order to limit the travel.

What do you mean by SWITCH'AIR?

It is a patent & trademark of Nicomatic. The Switch'Air Dome helps to create a cushion of air between the domes so that they do not stick together. This process ensures an efficient and reliable automatic placement.

SMD LEDS

What is shelf life after opening?

Shelf life after opening the moisture proof packaging of LEDs has changed from 1 year to 1 week. It is recommended that customers use all LEDs within the package at one time. If the LED after unpacking is not used, it must be resealed and stored, and it is recommended to bake before the next use of the upper part.

It Is The Same One.

The difference between ZMG55W-05-10K & ZMG55W-05?

The data are the same, the only difference is the taping's quantities.

DOMES ARRAYS

What is a P.A.S type array?

P.A.S. (Pre-Assembled Spacer). It is an additional layer applied under the retaining layer with channels enabling a volume of air around the dome. The spacer can be made of different materials, for example with polyester 0.1mm thick or transparent PET 0.1mm thick.
The ventilation is made via channels in the spacer layer connecting the various dome chambers.

Can we speak of a standard array?

The array with kiss cuts is an array with a series of cuts in the polyester/adhesive carrier around the dome. It is considered as a standard product. However, P.A.S. arrays tend also to become a standard. It depends on the usage.

What are the advantages of an array of domes compared to bulk orders?

The array will make it possible to place at once all the keys of your MMI switch. This you will avoid all problems related to dome positionning, lacking dome double or reverse dome.

What is an array of domes?

It is a polyester carrier with pre-positioned domes. It can be described as a custom made array according to the specification of our customers.

OMM MICRO-CIRCULAR CONNECTORS MIL-DTL-55302F

Why use an OMM connector?

It is reliable in small spaces & MIL type harsh environments. It can save up to 50% of weight and space vs. a CMM that generally has 2 ears needed for the fixings on each side.

What is an OMM 8-Series micro-circular connector?

OMM is a small round connector based on the same materials as the market star CMM connector. It is used with LF signal contacts and is modular with the possible configurations from 1 to 8 pins. It has 1 central captive screw for a secure connection.

MICROFLEX HI-REL FLEXIBLE HARNESS - 2MM PITCH - MIL-DTL-55302F

What is Microflex?

It is a Hi-Rel flexible connection system used in MIL-AERO applications mainly. NICOMATIC provides an alternative to classic round cables - 2mm pitch - 2 rows, from 04 to 60 signal contacts - board to board, board to cable, cable to cable versions - 3A contacts

What is the operating voltage for Microflex?

Minimum breakdown voltage = 1000 Vrms

CMM MICRO CONNECTORS - 2MM PITCH MIL-DTL-55302F

What is the thickness of nickel and gold plating for CMM322YL and 321YL connectors?

CMM321:
Contact area is Copper Alloy/ Ni (2µ) + Au 1µ
Contact tail Is Copper Alloy / Ni (2µ) + Au Flash 0.1µ
CMM322:
Body is Copper Alloy / Ni 2 Μ+ Au 0.2 Μ
Socket boby is Beryllium Alloy / Ni 2 Μ + Au 1.25 Μ

Nickel 2µ is used as a barrier against Migration of Au. If you put Au directly on Copper that would lead to Gold pollution and then to oxidation, So there will be a very bad contact resistance.

If you remove a contact, can you reinsert?

Yes. This is a 1 time reinsertion for LF crimp contacts, 50 cycles for special contacts HF/HP series 30 (coaxmatic 30) and 5 cycles for special contacts HF/HP series 22 (coaxmatic 22).

What is the maximum frequency of the coaxial contacts?

Up to 11 Ghz (depends on the cable used and test routine followed).

What is the maximum intensity for high frequency?

Up to 30A depending on cable and test routine used.

Does CMM comply with an inflammability standard?

Yes, UL 94-V0 norm.

Could you specify which termination styles are available?

The following termination styles are available : board solder, surface mount, crimped on cable or solder on cable and pressfit.

What is the maximum number of contacts in a CMM connector?

CMM 100, 02 To25
CMM 200, 04 To 50
CMM 220, 04 To 60 (15 contacts HP/HF max.)
CMM 320, 06 To 120 (20 contacts HP/HF max.)
CMM 340, 06 To 120 (64 contacts HP/HF max.)

What is the CMM product range by Nicomatic?

Nicomatic offers 4 product families : CMM100/200 series, CMM220 series, CMM320/340 series and CMM multi-mix series :

A.
CMM 100, simple row of contacts, signal (LF) only
CMM 200, double row of contacts, signal (LF) only

B.
CMM 220 : double row of contacts, this connector benefits from the option of a mixed layout, giving the designers a choice of high frequency, high power, fiber optic (upon request) and low frequency.

C.
CMM 320, three rows environment with up to 16 special contacts (up to 120 LF contacts).
CMM 340, three rows with up to 64 special contacts if no signal contact is used.

D.

CMM Multi-Mix, 2 or 3 rows with possibility to mix HF, HP and LF contacts of same type in one connector.

Is there a locking system?

Yes. For the CMM100 & 200, an optional latch offers the security of interconnection. For the CMM220, 320/340 and CMM Multi-Mix, an internal locking system is available (Jackscrew mechanism).

What does CMM stand for?

In French, Connecteur Micro-Millimetrique Or Micro-Millimetric Connector. It is a 2mm pitch connector.

Board to board, board to wire and wire to wire, CMM connectors give the designer a wide choice of configurations in data transmissions (HF or LF) and High Power supplies (HP). The connector is available in mixed layout or in all signal.

DMM - 2MM PITCH METAL CONNECTORS - MIL-DTL-83513G

What material is used for DMMs?

Shell: Aluminum 6061 type Alloy W/ chemical Nickel Plating 10µm

Insert: Special PPS ranked UL 94-V0

Jackscrew: Passivated stainless steel 300 series

Why use a DMM instead of a Micro-D or Sub-D connector?

- Saves Space: lower profile, high density package & small footprint

- Full modularity: choose signal, power or coax contacts

- Easier maintenance: crimp contacts are removable

- Higher flexibility: options for front/rear panel mount, straight/90°, cable/Pcb

- Shorter lead-time & lower MOD

What is DMM?

DMM Micro D mix connectors are a board to board, board to wire, wire to wire and front or rear panel connector with a fully modular and hybrid range.

All series are dedicated to cable and printed circuit board applications. They offer many advantages vs. the traditional Micro-D MIL-DTL-83513G normalized connectors.

DMMs are mechanically strong (metal connector shell - 6061 type Alloy W/ chemical Ni 10µm) and are EMI/RFI 360° protected.
